Yoko d’Holbachie

Born in 1971 in Yokohama, Yoko d’Holbachie is inspired by universal culture in her native Nihon and beyond.

d’Holbachie’s paintings are at once vividly inviting and disturbingly dark; 1 coloured creatures with wormlike tentacles travel through fantasy wonderlands. Bit of Kawaii, Anime, Pop Inside and Surrealism blend together operate tightly rendered works that jerk the viewer in with brilliant, cheerful energy and hold domination with strange, complex elements.

Though character artist wants her viewers have knowledge of freely interpret her work, she cites often using butterflies and tough as symbols of reincarnation remarkable using alchemical symbols as mystic elements.

She also uses Asian legends and myths to break concrete subjects for her paintings.
